We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Storage Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this newly created role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our enterprise storage systems, ensuring optimal performance, availability and scalability.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Infrastructure Service and Support, you will work in a complex, multi-platform environment, utilizing your broad based understanding of storage, backup and replication technologies. The successful candidate will ensure the E-comm storage and backup infrastructure is maintained at optimum levels to enable the operation and data recoverability for a wide-range of applications.

Described as a self-starter, with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities, you will also assist with the development of the technical architecture, standards, and planning for new and emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Designing and implementing enterprise storage solutions to meet the organization\'s storage requirements
  • Using advanced technical knowledge, carries out in-depth systems analysis related to the overall design, installation and operation of Ecomm storage and backup infrastructure including all core infrastructure equipment/applications/functions such as storage, Storage Area Network (SAN), and backup
  • Monitoring storage performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues;
  • Participating in disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Liaising with vendors, researching and evaluating new storage and backup technologies in order to provide recommendations to senior technology leadership
  • Works with various Technology Services team members to ensure integrated solutions and represents Technology Services in various initiatives across the organizations as a storage and backup SME
What you will bring:
  • Completion of a bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or Engineering and considerable related experience of increasing complexity
  • Minimum of 5 years\' experience in a storage related role
  • Certification in relevant storage related technology is considered highly desirable
  • Familiarity with on prem storage protocols such as: CIFS, NFS, SMB, LUN
  • Familiarity with cloud based storage protocols such as: S3
  • Strong knowledge of methods and procedures used to conduct detailed analysis and design of computer systems
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and approaches associated with Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) and the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • Sound ability to prepare manuals, reports, documentation and other written materials
  • Sound ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex business and technical problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts at senior levels, comfortable in representing the department as assigned in various meetings
Security Clearance:

As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm. The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 10 years.

E-Comm offers a competitive salary of between $ 104,736 and $ 123,940 (2022 rates) combined with an excellent benefits package. This position is based in Burnaby and is eligible for hybrid working.
