ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a
Senior Staff Accountant
to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with clients to assist with accounting, financial reporting, and tax matters. The ideal candidate is highly experienced in Canadian taxation and assurance, enjoys building strong client relationships, and is motivated to take on greater responsibility within a supportive and professional firm.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
CPA designation or in final stages of completion
7-10 years of public accounting experience
Strong technical expertise in Canadian personal, corporate, and trust tax returns
Proven ability to review and finalize financial statements and working paper files
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CaseWare, and Doc.It
Experience with Profile tax software (asset)
Familiarity with audit and review engagements, including planning and execution
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and client service skills
Ability to mentor and support junior team members
Commitment to meeting deadlines and managing multiple engagements simultaneously
Willingness to work extended hours during busy seasons
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage, review and prepare corporate, personal, and trust tax returns, including complex engagements
Oversee preparation of financial statements and related working papers for review and audit engagements
Conduct tax planning for owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth individuals
Prepare corporate, personal, and trust tax returns, including HST filings
Complete a range of T1 returns from intermediate to complex
Supervise and mentor junior/intermediate staff, providing guidance and feedback
Act as primary point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong relationships
Liaise with the CRA and other regulatory bodies to resolve client issues
Draft and review client correspondence, memos, and planning documents
Contribute to continuous process improvements and uphold firm standards
Support partners with special projects and advisory engagements
