Candidate Requirements and Responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join a great family with a personal touch and strong ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work on weekends during tax season (Saturdays).
Willing to improve processes with the adoption of digital platforms, cloud accounting, and the progression of remote/paperless accounting.
You will be responsible for being the point of contact for a portfolio of 80-120 corporate clients. Maintain client relationships and answer their questions, ensuring that all their deadlines are met promptly
You will be reporting to the Managing Partner and Assurance Manager
You will be responsible for mentoring and grooming junior staff for technical assistance and improvements, directly reporting to you.
Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to work well with minimal supervision, balance multiple tasks and files, and be open to continuous learning to enhance their knowledge and skills related to tax and accounting to serve our clients.
Main Duties include:
Prepare and review complex compilation Engagements CSR 4200 files for private corporations and all related tasks associated with it
Prepare and review complex Corporate (T2) income tax returns
Prepare and review complex personal (T1), (Investments, Rental, Self-employed, Farming);
Prepare and review complex T3 returns and other partnership returns
Prepare all other tax forms T4/T5/T4A, EHT, WSIB Payroll Reconciliation, HST filing.
Directly working with clients to coordinate the efficient completion of engagements, request necessary information, and review accounting transactions.
Perform and supervise bookkeeping duties and recommend solutions to the bookkeeper.
Correspondence with CRA regarding corporate, personal, payroll, and sales tax issues.
Effectively communicating with the team, clients, and relevant government agencies
Coordinate with the reporting manager to manage clients and recommend solutions to management.
Other Administration duties like managing the Workflow software /CRM for your clients
Qualification
3-5 years of experience in a Canadian public accounting firm
Solid understanding of accounting principles and working paper file preparation
Experience using CaseWare, TaxPrep, Profile, QuickBooks Desktop and Online,
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and efficiently
Effective verbal and written communication skills with both clients and team members
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Good knowledge of corporate and personal tax
Post-secondary education in accounting
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or any other similar major with a background in accounting a must
CPA /or Students working towards the CPA designation are welcome

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
