Summary:

This position is responsible for leading the strategic procurement of medium to high dollar goods and services, fleet services and other assigned portfolio items through contracting where the value, risk and complexity often require multiple bids. The Senior Specialist, Supply Chain in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager, will be responsible for Categories and spend within and will contribute to developing Category Management policies and practices as well as their execution.
Key Focuses:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to analyze business needs and provide procurement planning and advice/support to ensure best value.
  • Establish Category/Sourcing strategies and Contract Management plans for medium to high value/risk goods and services.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives including RFI, RFQ & RFP processes, vendor selection and negotiations, contracting as well as ongoing vendor management and compliance.
  • Manage procurement delivery, stakeholder relationships, and contract and vendor management.
  • Provide input and recommendations to determine best practice and procedures on new assignments.
  • Support policy and/or process developments.
  • Provide guidance to purchasing staff to ensure alignment with departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Problem solving of complex situations and influence change management.
  • Develop strong business relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate with all levels within the organization regarding Supply Chain policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Provide planning, organizational and analytical skills as part of consultations.
  • Provide input and recommendations to the Supply Chain Manager or Internal Customers.
Experience and Education:
  • An SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) Designation is required.
  • A valid Class 5 License (or equivalent) is required, along with a satisfactory 3-year Drivers Abstract.
  • Candidates with PMAC Level 3 are considered an asset.
  • At least 10 years of Supply Chain experience including Logistics, Warehousing, Inventory and a general knowledge of Contract Law will be required.
  • Experience in the use of SAP Business by Design or similar ERP systems is required.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with MS Office suite and other work-related software.
  • Ability to lead projects, prioritize work and resolve issues with minimal assistance.
  • An analytical and strategic thinker who brings forward innovative ideas and process improvements.
  • Experience with leading and the delivery of Supply Chain outcomes for a client area.
  • Experience with Canadian contract law and contract negotiations.
This is a full-time position located in Fort McMurray, AB.
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
