The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Specialist, Lean Coach to join our Continuous Improvement team in Toronto. This is a permanent position.

The Senior Lean Coach has the role of developing and subsequently managing the creation, implementation, and execution of the Vale Energy Transition Metals (VETM) Continuous Improvement Program that shifts the business to being a top-tier copper and nickel producer.

You will Lead the develop teams in the business with skills in continuous improvement to achieve and sustain performance excellence through the use of continuous improvement models and tools based the business maturity roadmap. Serve as a subject matter expert of continuous improvement implementation and involvement to create and sustain culture change to achieve long-term business strategies. Lead cross functional teams across our global business to achieve step change in performance using complex Value Stream mapping, Value Driver tree\xe2\x80\x99s and statistical analysis techniques.

Additionally, in this position you will:

Using Continuous Improvement models like DMAIC, PDCA, LEAN, Design Thinking, Agile, data analytics and thorough knowledge of VETM mining to lead cross functional teams to identify constraints and opportunities across our business to have performance breakthroughs.

Develop in partnership with the lead CI, the VETM Continuous Improvement models, toolkit, and roadmap to connect into VPS 2.0

Responsible for creating training and coaching programs for lean and six sigma programs aimed at VETM performance breakthoughs and to coach operations and corporate teams globally including follow-up and coaching to sustain capability and knowledge levels.

Utilize strong influencing skills to consult with and obtain buy-in from the Executive team and Operations leadership in setting the critical path and performance improvement plans for the proposed continuous improvement initiatives and gain specialist expertise from across the business as required.

Lead and manage continuous improvement programs across the global VETM business.

Missing: Develop, Review and Refine the Base Metals business strategy with the BM Executive Team (VP-1) in setting the strategic direction and execution plans for each proposed transformation program.

Consult with and obtain buy-in from the Executive team and Operations (VP-1) leadership in setting the strategic direction and execution plans for each proposed transformation program.

Set up governance structure for initiatives within the Continuous Improve Portfolio.

Support the team in gathering and analyzing information, formulating, and testing hypotheses, and developing recommendations.

Prepare and escalate issues requiring leadership involvement and support to resolve, including the preparation of proposed solution/s to issues.

Complete post implementation reviews of projects to ensure value capture and identify any corrective actions needing to be exercised.

About You

Education:

Undergraduate Degree

Continuous Improvement/Lean Certification

Supply Chain professional certification an asset

Experience:

Minimum 11-15 years of relevant experience

Skills:

8+ years of experience in the creation and implementation of Continuous Improvement for large organizations

Understands and can lead Complex cross functional Value Stream analysis.

Effective at influencing and mentoring

Strong data and analytics skills (minitab experience and asset)

Ability to perform high level analysis to define business improvement requirements to support viability.

Experience of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), Kaizen/A3, (continuous improvement and problem solving) process improvement and Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques

Self-directed with an ability to take a problem statement, frame it and develop & implement a detailed action plan to address the problems.

Detailed experience in the creation and implementation of strategic plans for large organizations

Ability to perform high level analysis to define business improvement requirements to support viability.

Excellent communication skills to oversee personnel and foster collaboration with other organizational departments.
