About the roleJoin the Housing Economics and Insights team, where we accelerate housing affordability through evidence-based research. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a dynamic team focused on answering critical housing questions and providing value-added insights.Please note this is a temporary position of 12 months.What you\'ll do:
  • Help to ensure that planning and prioritization of research and analysis across the division is focused on finding practical results on relevant housing issues and challenges, as well as finding solutions that will help to achieve corporate objectives and support evidence-based decisions.
  • Lead the ideation exercise to transform key research questions into detailed project plans designed to obtain practical and actionable insights on various housing questions, leveraging research findings to influence decision making and direction setting amongst internal and external stakeholders, with a particular focus on building science and climate change.
  • Plan, manage, contribute to, complete, and communicate rigorous research to address business needs including tracking progress against project milestones and budgeted expenditures and providing quality assurance.
  • Collaborate on and contribute to housing research consortia to leverage corporate research funding in priority areas and to contribute to the development of timely and relevant building science data and information by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor trends and issues in housing research, academic and building science research literature, intelligence gathering, environmental scans, professional relationships, and participation in external workshops and events.
  • Manage and guide the work of external research consultants to ensure compliance with contracted deliverables and schedules and oversee/review the quality of information and analysis contained.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations into development and enhancement of housing analyses, data, policies, programs, and services.
What you should have:
  • An undergraduate degree Engineering or Building Science. A background in Architecture, Environmental Science, Planning, or related discipline may be considered. A postgraduate degree is a strong asset.
  • Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing research projects in terms of scope, objectives, methodologies, and management.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with research and analysis of primary and secondary data using appropriate methodologies, qualitative and/or quantitative and statistical analysis and providing facts, evidence, and conclusions to support internal and external decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize information to develop relevant, value-added recommendations and provide advice.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including presentation, negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles to communicate messages that have the desired effect.
