The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Financial Planning and Analysis to join our Finance team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

As a Senior Specialist, Financial Planning and Analysis, you will support the Head of Finance, North Atlantic Operations and Finance Managers in situations where they are unable to attend meetings and/or represent North Atlantic Finance Leadership, while continuing to deliver high quality work deliverables on his/her major accountabilities and work closely with operational areas and customers to deliver on cost-effective budgets and driving continuous improvement. This role will also be required to seamlessly step in and fill in when Finance Managers in the North Atlantic Finance team is on leave to ensure continuity of work and focus.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Support the Head of Finance, North Atlantic Operations in communicating and coordinating with the North Atlantic Leadership Team and other parts of the business.
  • Assess and address the finance impacts of business process changes driven by or being implemented by other functional areas;
  • Project manage the design and implementation of the agreed initiatives including resourcing, plan/schedule, updates to management sponsors, completion of objectives within agreed deadlines;
  • Drive process improvements/ simplification, change management, and standardization to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve Finance analytics, reporting and deliverables to senior management;
  • Consolidation, variance and trend analysis of monthly financials to identify areas of concern where further work is needed, work with others to address those concerns and communicate and inform others of these concerns;
  • Ensure people within the NA operations understand and follow Vale global financial policies, norms and procedures. Implement any new Vale global policies, norms and procedures.
About You
Education:
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Preferred degrees in Finance, Engineering, Economy, Business or related field.
  • Professional certifications as P.Eng, CPA or MBA considered an asset
Experience:
  • 8-10 years of finance experience.
Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills to manage diverse cultures and multiple levels of management
  • Collaboration and strong relationship building skills
  • Knowledge on governance, norms, processes and internal compliance and governance.
  • Progressive relevant experience in Finance and Operations.
  • Standardization and routine management practices
  • Change Management skills and experience
  • Leadership and influencing skills and experience

  • Expert skills at building solid, innovative and pointed performance decks
