Position summary:

The Employee Communications team at IGM Financial is responsible for planning and delivering engaging and strategic employee communications across the IGM Financial group of companies (Mackenzie Investments, IG Wealth Management and partners with Investment Planning Counsel) to help drive a fulfilling employee experience, culture and business performance. Success is achieved through optimizing and modernizing internal digital channels through data-driven insights, advising and supporting Business Partners on new and fresh communications to enhance our talent brand and culture, and developing integrated CEO communication programs and events to engage employees in IGM\xe2\x80\x99s business success.

Reporting to the Director, Employee Communications, and part of the IGM Financial Human Resources team, the Senior Specialist, Employee Communications is a proactive team contributor, helping improve the employee experience by developing and/or supporting modern, engaging communications and activities for the all-leader/all-employee audience across IGM.

The role is an individual contributor, based in Toronto in a hybrid workplace environment.

Key accountabilities:

Communication planning and execution:

  • Collaborate with internal Business Partners and the Employee Communications team on key business and cultural initiatives, including business news, community, sustainability, HR/DEI, awards, technology, and compliance to ensure our employees are well-informed & engaged
  • Develop or support tactics for e-newsletter articles, intranet content, videos, infographics, and other tactics
  • Provide support for events e.g., Employee and Leadership Forums, including promotional communications and logistics
  • Support development of project workbacks and key deliverables, such as agendas, decks, speaking notes, surveys, and promotional communications
Writing and editing:
  • Write, edit, proofread and distribute employee communications including news articles, intranet hub content, executive presentations, and video scripts to ensure all communications are on brand, on message and clear, engaging and actionable
  • Partner with the Employee Communications team to submit/publish editorial content on our internal digital channels (including intranets, target emails, weekly bulletins and digital signage), update editorial calendar and contribute to ongoing modernization of digital corporate channels
  • Analyze, measure, and provide data-driven insights on communication effectiveness with recommendations to Business Partners to enable continuous improvements
Administrative team support:
  • Provide back-up publishing support for corporate intranet sites, newsletters and digital boards
  • Contribute to managing and maintaining distribution lists
  • Support processes and communication standards, including documenting and readily implementing optimized work processes and practices as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree Professional Communications or College diploma in Communications/Public Relations required; additional designation is an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in employee or corporate communications in an agency or large conglomerate setting
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills with proven attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, process and project management skills
  • Responds well to changing priorities and circumstances, and demonstrates resilience and adaptability when faced with disruptions or obstacles; identifies and resolves difficult problems with new approaches and innovative solutions
  • Advanced proficiency in MS 365 (OneDrive, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Adept to learn new technologies and/or experience with SharePoint, StaffBase, Workfront, Airtable or related digital communications apps
  • Experience with digital communications and web publishing an asset
  • Excellent judgment, highly motivated and proactive positive mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively while also working independently
  • Work hours may vary; occasional evening and weekend work may be required; incumbent should be comfortable self-managing their time and maintaining a healthy work-life balance
