Holt Executive are currently partnered with a leading Global Satellite Operator who provide reliable and secure satellite-delivered voice and high-speed data communications solutions to broadcast, telecommunications, corporate and government customers worldwide. Their Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network will revolutionize global broadband connectivity for enterprise users, by delivering a combination of high capacity, security, resiliency and affordability with ultra-low latency and fiber-like speeds.

They require a Senior Specialist, Embedded Software Consultant to join on a part-time basis, and provide software development, management and quality expertise, and technical oversight of satellite and ground software development. The appointee will review various software design, development and production plans and processes to identify risks, assess critical path elements and provide recommendations for optimization and monitoring efforts to maximize successful execution of the program.

This oversight will continue through all phases of the program to provide expertise from a mission assurance perspective.

Main Responsibilities for the Senior Specialist, Embedded Software Consultant:

• Perform a detailed evaluation of the internal and external embedded software Program Development and Production Plans.
• Assess the internal and external embedded software program organization, processes, standards and tools.
• Collaborate with the management team to assist in maturing the program team to ensure that it includes the appropriate resources and tools to effectively manage the program and to recommend/support mission assurance governance initiatives.
• Provide an assessment of the technical solutions for the embedded software including the overall system design, specific element design, supplier selection process, development, and acceptance approach.
• Evaluate the internal and external embedded software program schedules to identify critical paths, key schedule risks and make recommendations for appropriate mitigation strategies to minimize the potential for schedule slips.
• Evaluate the internal and external embedded software design processes, validation and verification processes, and release, configuration management and change management processes and plans.

Education and Experience required by the Senior Specialist, Embedded Software Consultant:

• 20+ years of leadership experience in the management of complex embedded software communication programs, preferably on satellite or aviation equipment, through design, development, production and testing.
• Expertise in Mission Assurance on embedded software programs, system engineering, program management, supplier management, and software release, configuration, and change management.
