How will you contribute?

  • Collaborate with product and engineering manager(s), software engineers, and operations engineers to uncover difficulties and
opportunities to deliver new business value through software. * Prototype and build new functionality to deliver on key product objectives.
  • Deliver an exceptional user experience to our customers, through the delivery of products and services with strong and extendable architectural design.
  • Contribute to application and technical architecture plans as they relate to the tools and systems in place within our organization.
  • Maintain and support these services, with accountability for production reliability and usage, and new functionality.
  • Be part of or lead initiatives within Business Unit to develop and improve standards and methodologies.
  • Influence and lead discussions with our strategic vendors to advance our platforms and deliver values efficiently.
  • Work with other engineers/architecture teams realizing the strategic vision of Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s technology stack.
  • Technical delivery of a Proof of Concept that will build solutions within Group Benefits.
  • Translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with different teams to push delivery on time, with quality and the right solutions.
  • Mentor software engineers on engineering approach and standard practices.
  • Explore emerging technology and policy trends that might affect day-to-day operations.
  • Hands-on coding and code review is required.\xe2\x80\x8b
Required skills:
  • 10+ years in a Senior full-stack engineer position.
  • Bachelor in computer science or equivalent.
  • .Net core, C#
  • Node.js/React.js, Express
  • Relational Databases such as SQL Server
  • CI/CD, DevOps
  • Git
  • Cloud experience, Azure preferred
  • Proven track record with APIs (REST, microservice architecture)
  • Integration (Enterprise Messaging, Azure Event Hub)
  • End-to-end Software Development Lifecycle
  • Agile scrum experience
Desired skills:
  • HTML5, CSS3, REACT/Redux
  • Docker
  • Apigee / Azure APIM
  • Cloud Platform like Azure/AKS, PCF
  • New Relic, Dynatrace, Devo
  • Terraform, Helm, Ansible script.
  • Enterprise Messaging such as: Azure Event Hub, Kafka, MSMQ, IBM ESB, etc.
  • SOAP, WSDL, XML, JSON.
  • Bonus points for any of the following: Cobol, PL/I, SAS, VSAM, Endeavor, JCL.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location Waterloo, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between $89,950.00 CAD - $167,050.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
