About the role:

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Vancouver-based development team. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in backend development and system design, with deep experience in PHP (Laravel) and MySQL. You'll play a critical role in designing scalable services, building robust APIs, and ensuring high system reliability.

While this role is backend-focused, familiarity with Python

,

front-end technologies like React or Next.js, and distributed sytems is a bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement scalable backend services using

PHP (Laravel)

and

MySQL

Develop clean, well-tested, and maintainable APIs Drive high-level architectural decisions and contribute to

system design

discussions Containerize services using

Docker

and manage environments with

Kubernetes

Collaborate with front-end engineers and product teams to deliver full-feature solutions Conduct peer code reviews and mentor junior developers Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend performance and data flows Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing where appropriate

Requirements:

5+ years of professional experience in

backend or full-stack development

Deep expertise in

PHP (Laravel)

and

relational databases (MySQL)

Proven experience designing scalable systems and API architecture Strong grasp of

containerization

tools like Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus Experience with

version control
