The Role

GoodTaco.ai is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to help bring this vision to life. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining our full-stack application, which features a Vue.js frontend and a Python backend. This role requires a strong understanding of modern web development practices, database management, cloud infrastructure, and secure software development principles.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable features across the full stack, from the user interface to backend services. Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define, design, and ship thoughtful, high-impact features. Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy as we grow. Optimize performance and ensure reliability, security, and smooth user experiences. Follow secure coding practices aligned with OWASP guidelines. Troubleshoot, debug, and continuously improve system stability. Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that others enjoy reading. Join in-person company gatherings a few times a year to collaborate and connect.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of professional software development experience. Proficiency in a modern frontend javascript/typescript framework (e.g. Vue.js, React). Strong experience with Python for backend development. Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker). Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar cloud platforms. Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. Solid understanding of database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL). Familiarity with testing frameworks and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a low-ego, open-minded approach to collaboration.

Bonus Points

Experience with Nuxt. Experience with FastAPI. Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g., Pulumi, CDK, Terraform). Have built an AI-enabled application or feature. Extensive experience with AI code gen and deep understanding of the benefits and drawbacks. Contributions to open-source projects. Around the greater Sacramento area.

Compensation

This position is remote and open to applicants in the United States, Canada, Central America, and South America. Salary may vary based on location, experience, and qualifications, except as listed below: Canada: $120,000.00-$150,000.000 CAD
