The demand for electricity is high \xe2\x80\x93 and getting higher \xe2\x80\x93 and big power plants aren\'t meeting our needs. We say it\'s time to disrupt and decentralize.

At Peak Power, we\'re energy nerds that develop software for the real estate sector. Our tech turns commercial buildings and industrial facilities into virtual power plants in a new, decentralized electricity system. This means cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable electricity. Peak Power develops and connects battery storage, grid-interactive buildings, and electric vehicle assets in a single software platform for partners to pursue net zero goals, cut operating expenses, and unlock new revenue opportunities.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the VP, of Engineering, the Senior Software Engineer will work with a talented group of Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders on a mission to build secure, reliable, scalable, and high-performing products.

As part of our growing engineering team, you will be fundamental to building our back end while shaping the next generation of the building optimization module of our Synergy platform.

This work matters. Even a small change to optimize electricity usage can significantly impact our customers, electrical grid, and environment. We\'re building something that will have a lasting, positive impact.

Our new Senior Software Engineer will:

Deliver. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find solutions to complex problems and drive high-risk initiatives to completion on time, on budget.

Design, build and support new systems development using Kotlin, Java and related open source technologies

Design and build tools and systems that are future-proofing and forward-looking.

Investigate new design techniques and technologies regularly, and easily swap out sub-optimally performance modules with new technologies.

Design, architect, and develop APIs that are elegant, efficient, secure, highly available, and maintainable

Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack

Report. You will monitor and report on progress, methodically evaluate processes and systems to improve efficiency; and implement processes that provide transparency and tracking.

Collaborate. You have strong interpersonal and communication skills to keep everyone on the same page when working cross-functionally.

Effectively communicates expectations, issues, risks, and decisions to product team

Collaborate with engineering and product team to ensure solid design principles and platform reliability, resilience, and performance/scalability

Troubleshoot alongside other teams\' outputs that aren\'t directly in their purview

Champion and continuously improve engineering standards, tools, and processes.

What you will bring to Peak Power:

The experience and education.

You have an undergraduate degree in software engineering, computer science or a related technical field (e.g. EE, physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.

You have 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering or similar technical role delivering success in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and excels in collaborating with a small team using an agile process.

Expertise in Kotlin and Java

Experience in Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture

Experience in any of the following: PostgreSQL, MySQL, InfluxDB, or Clickhouse

Experience in Kafka, node-RED

Experience in Docker, containerized CI/CD

Experience in shipping production-ready code
