About the role:
The Vehicle Connectivity team is responsible for building and operating features encompassing connectivity, accessories, and core business logic for Samsara's Vehicle Gateway (VG). We enable seamless integration between devices, vehicles, and the cloud. We deliver customer facing features requiring end to end ownership of implementation across firmware, backend, and frontend domains.
This is a full-stack role where you will work in an integrated firmware - fullstack team to deliver features that power the core connectivity of Samsara's telematics platform. The work you do ensures our devices remain securely and reliably connected in the field, supporting millions of IoT devices and mission-critical fleet operations worldwide.
This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the United States and Canada. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

In this role, you will:
  • Work with product managers, designers, firmware, and infrastructure engineers to design, build, test, and deliver end-to-end products and features
  • Develop skills and knowledge across multiple technologies - Go, GraphQL, Typescript, JavaScript, React, and React Native are some of the components of our technology stack. Direct experience with these technologies is not required
  • Solve real life problems and optimize fleets globally
  • Grow as an engineer - Samsara engineers are constantly learning. We're an engineering-first organisation with ample room for progression
  • Participate in a one week per quarter on-call rotation and support outage investigations in the team's ownership domain
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on customer success, build for the long term, adopt a growth mindset, be inclusive, and win as a team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Minimum requirements for the role:
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Professional experience working with a team to develop real world customer facing products and features
  • Strong programming/coding fundamentals in a modern language such as Golang, React-native, Swift, Kotlin, or Python
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining user facing production systems
  • An ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your team
An ideal candidate also has:
  • Mobile Development experience
  • SQL and data analysis capabilities
  • Experience in IoT, telematics, condition monitoring solutions
  • Contributed heavily to driving significant value to their customers
  • Curiosity about our customers, and is eager to improve their day-to-day experience
  • Seeks to iterate on new products based on customer feedback
