Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting
  • 1 year of experience with Linux Kernel or AOSP based systems
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems, and designing/implementing OS and application runtime components
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with core android components including SurfaceFlinger and InputFlinger
  • Experience with OpenXR and OpenXR Extensions

In this role, you will bring interest and expertise in designing, building, and optimizing operating systems software for innovative immersive XR devices. You'll work to build tools and architectural building blocks to make debugging in the field and labs much easier. The Google Augmented Reality team is a diverse group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. Responsibilities
  • Root cause stability and performance issues across the entire Android platform, with investigations spanning application code, the Android framework and runtimes, vendor drivers, and the Linux kernel.
  • Write reliable, efficient, and testable software designed run in environments that span bare-metal to cloud.
  • Communicate design and implementation decisions effectively through architecture/design documents and code.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Build and extend tooling to improve performance, memory, debuggability especially managing workloads that span multiple processes.
