Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining and/or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience in security-focused software engineering.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Expereince in programming language safety and semantics, operating system security, and/or platform security.
  • Experience developing for the open web platform and knowledge of x86_64 and/or arm64 assembly languages.
  • Familiarity with macOS or iOS operating system internals (XNU, launchd, Mach IPC/XPC).

The work we do typically affects many stakeholders with a variety of sometimes conflicting interests, so we strive to provide the greatest possible safety for the people who depend on Chrome and Chromium.

Responsibilities
  • Identify areas for improving the security of Chrome on Mac OS and iOS.
  • Stay informed on changes to underlying operating systems to take advantage of software security mitigation.
  • Work with Chrome feature teams to develop sandboxes for their components.
  • Perform security reviews for Chrome features.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
