The Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) is home to leading scientific experts dedicated to informing policy and practice on mental illness and addictions. IMHPR scientists conduct collaborative research on communities, populations, health systems and global health, and develop and evaluate prevention and intervention initiatives to reduce mental health and substance use challenges. IMHPR is committed to equity, informed by the social determinants of health.
Aligning with the mission and goals of IMHPR, we are seeking a Senior Scientist who leads internationally recognized interdisciplinary research in the etiology and/or treatment of addictive behaviours, including translational research that integrates diverse epidemiological, cognitive, behavioural and clinical perspectives and methodologies to understand mechanisms of disease. The individual will also have experience in the development and evaluation of novel treatments for people with addictions, including leading randomized control trials in clinical and population settings. The candidate collaborates widely with researchers and clinicians from diverse disciplines and conducts interdisciplinary research that informs policy and practice.
To support the mission, goals and objectives of IMHPR, the successful candidate will also hold the temporary responsibilities of Associate Scientific Director (Clinical Research), on a three (3) year term. With a focus on supporting clinician scientists and clinical research integration activities this role will assist the Senior Director in overseeing, reviewing, approving and executing IMHPR activities. The applicant will have excellent leadership skills and will take an active role in supporting the strategic goals of IMHPR, aligning with the mission of the hospital.

Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a focus on addictions. Preference will be given to registered clinicians who have extensive experience conducting interdisciplinary research in the etiology and/or treatment of addictive behaviours. The applicant must have a distinguished track-record of successful research leadership and scholarship, demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, presentations at leading conferences, distinguished awards, and research activities with local, national, and international practitioners and policymakers. They will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. The successful applicant will have experience in leadership positions that support a department\xe2\x80\x99s mission and goals. As a research leader committed to informing policy and practice on mental illness and addictions, the individual will have a demonstrated ability to provide leadership in an evolving research environment, including excellent judgement, strategic-thinking and decision-making skills, an ability to navigate complex situations, and have strong collaboration, communication and diplomacy skills. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching, trainee mentorship and supervision is also required. The ability to work with individuals of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is required. Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language are considered assets.
