We are seeking an experienced and exceptional individual for the role of Senior Scientist - Nonclinical Safety Assessment. This scientist will help to build out our pharm-tox capabilities and increase confidence in our animal modeling so we can help our partners move faster and with less risk to the clinic. Through close collaboration across the company this role will help identify the best antibodies for the job. The successful scientist will be responsible for nonclinical safety assessment activities from the start of program life cycle and into early clinical development, in close collaboration with our partners and external vendors. We are looking for someone who has a passion for understanding how models can predict responses in humans. How you might spend your days:
  • Performing nonclinical safety assessment activities throughout all stages of antibody drug development across a wide range of disease areas and indications
  • Assessing and selecting vendors, building relationships with a network of external resources, designing and monitoring nonclinical studies
  • Reviewing, interpreting and integrating nonclinical safety data
  • Preparing nonclinical strategy and safety summaries in support of IND and clinical trial applications
  • Guiding and educating teams, and mentoring individual scientists
  • Collaborating with teams across the company to solve problems, analyze, interpret and communicate data
  • Evaluating new technology and testing new models to better predict human adverse responses
  • Reporting findings to our teams and partners to support data-driven decision making

Required Qualifications and Education
  • PhD in Toxicology or related discipline with working knowledge of the drug development process and 8+ years practical work experience in a biopharmaceutical industry environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in antibody drug development from discovery to mid-stage development
  • Significant experience with authoring/reviewing project plans, study protocols, study reports, and safety summaries to ensure appropriate nonclinical safety datasets are accurately generated and interpreted
  • Ability to perform scientific investigation of fundamental toxicology issues, either through review of the academic literature or empirical drug development experience
  • Understanding of regulatory processes, GLP/ICH and other regulatory guidance documents, and basic knowledge of regulatory toxicology
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team
Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience with assessing new and emerging in silico / in vitro technologies to improve human safety prediction for the antibody drug development process
  • Experience with early-stage R&D of immuno-oncology therapeutics
