Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee advanced research projects focused on the development and application of novel materials.
  • Design organic synthesis routes for the preparation of biomolecules, monomers, and polymers.
  • Design and characterize biosensing devices, optimizing their properties for maximum stability and performance.
  • Analyze, document, and present research findings at both internal and external forums, ensuring rigorous project documentation compliance, including ISO standards, invention disclosures, and scientific publications.
  • Translate scientific advancements into practical, scalable technologies to address and resolve complex business challenges.
  • Manage laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, SOP development, staff training, and logistical oversight of lab supplies and equipment procurement.
  • Provide expert review and summary of scientific literature and patents to guide strategic direction in research and development.
  • Develop cost estimates and detailed proposals to ensure project alignment with budgetary and client requirements.
  • Implement process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Design and scale up chemical processes from lab to bench and to pilot, ensuring safety and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation to ensure all processes adhere to compliance and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies to manage approvals for new chemical entities and compositions.
  • Lead risk assessment and mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of chemical processes.
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in chemical synthesis and processing.
  • Experience in the design, synthesis, and application of polymers and biomaterials.
  • Experience with formalized project management tools and methodologies, such as PMP certification.
  • Past experience in management consulting and direct client interactions would be an asset.
  • Proven track record in non-software product development and ownership.
  • Background in continuous improvement methods, including Lean Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated experience with team building and leadership in a dynamic research environment.
  • Expertise in process engineering and troubleshooting within a chemical environment.
  • Experience in designing and implementing control strategies for process variability reduction.
  • Technical skills in process simulation and modeling tools to predict process behaviors under different scenarios.
  • Knowledge of advanced data analysis and statistical techniques to optimize process performance.
  • Experience in environmental sustainability practices related to chemical processing.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant quality management systems.
