How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

  • Leading the Climate Science and Adaptation program development and implementation including program scoping, target setting, budgeting, staff supervision, and work planning.
  • Leading complex, interdisciplinary climate change research projects involving internal and external stakeholders that contribute to achieving TRCA strategic goals and municipal partner priorities.
  • Providing subject matter expert advice on climate science and adaptation to internal TRCA groups and programs, senior management, partner municipalities and stakeholders
  • Facilitating the building of new or strengthening existing long-term research partnerships with leading universities, government agencies and non-government organizations
  • Supporting knowledge management and mobilization activities within TRCA and amongst its partners.
  • Fostering a team culture that is collaborative, cohesive, respectful, purposeful and value driven.
  • Representing TRCA on external technical advisory committees, working groups, issue-based panels/task forces.
  • Attending and presenting at leading conferences, scientific roundtable gatherings or public events to broadly enable knowledge transfer or exchange, and build/strengthen networks.
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
  • University degree at master's level in climate science, water resources, geography, environmental studies, public policy (environmental) or related discipline
Experience
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience related to major responsibilities
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
  • Proven ability to successfully project/manage complex, large scale, and/or interdisciplinary research initiatives.
  • Advanced theoretical and applied knowledge of climate science, policy, and adaptation.
  • Proven ability to research, analyze, organize, translate, and communicate complex scientific information.
  • Good working knowledge of legislation, public policy and strategies pertaining to climate adaptation, natural systems planning and management, and water resources.
  • Established research network and proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative, transdisciplinary partnerships with a variety of research and funding partners
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Dedicated team building and people management skills
