Reporting to Scientific Director who is the primary Principal Investigator of the Canadian Open Neuroscience Platform, the Senior Research Project Manager\xe2\x80\x99s main objective will be to bring together a distributed, multidisciplinary network of partner institutions, technology developers, scientists and policy makers, and be responsible for harmonizing and tracking the development and deployment of the CONP\xe2\x80\x99s core functionality according to characteristics defined by the CONP Technical and Scientific Steering Committees. As the project manager and day-to-day overseer of all CONP and related activities, the incumbent will maintain precise and up-to-date project information, ensure fluid communication between all stakeholders and be responsible for providing precise, timely and relevant information, including potential red flags to the executive team. This individual will have sufficient domain expertise and leadership skills to be able to make short-term decisions as well as concrete recommendations on medium-term and long-term actions. They will be the main pivot point to ensure proper transfer of information to the partners once design and development phases are completed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement overall strategic action plans and priorities of the CONP as defined by the Scientific Steering Committee and by working closely with the lead PI.
  • Take a leadership role in planning the project infrastructure and ensuring project milestones and deliverables are achieved across all partner institutions- under the 3 priority activity areas: platform development, ethics and governance, open publishing, and training.
  • Plan, monitor, and track the day-to-day operations of the CONP, ensuring project controls, accurate reporting, and accountability are achieved.
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives involving relevant stakeholders while ensuring feasibility.
  • Develop a project performance review process to evaluate progress against established goals for CONP.
  • Chairing the CONP Operations Committee to bring together the CONP staff for cross-committee work.
  • Create and communicate clearly work plans, schedules and reports on regular intervals.
  • Identify obstacles and potential threats that may impact the ability to deliver project according to schedule and recommend solutions.
  • Oversee the activities of and ensure that the various CONP committees and working groups are meeting regularly and achieving their set mandates.
  • Participate actively in deliberations and decision making of the Steering Committee.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the creation and writing of all relevant policy documents, Committee/WG Terms of Reference and Progress Reports.
  • Provide timely reporting to the steering committees and to funding agency partners.
  • Represent the CONP externally by travelling to sites and conferences/symposiums providing lay-level presentations on the project.
  • Take a lead on directing the production of publication articles.
  • Responsible for overall budget management, in collaboration with the Financial Officer.
  • Write grant applications for support of the platform.
  • May be called upon to lead other project initiatives where necessary.
Other Qualifying Skills

Graduate degree in science, technology, engineering, and/or business preferred with 2-5 years of direct project management experience involving complex projects of a multi-disciplinary nature (information technology, scientific research, education). Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. Proven high level organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking. Ability to plan and conduct meetings and prepare and give presentations with confidence and professionalism. Demonstrated confident leadership characteristics showing the ability to keep a project moving toward the set goal. Individual traits being sought include: the ability to diffuse conflict, problem solve, adapt to change and be a positive motivator. Experience in preparing project documentation. Candidate must be a self-motivated person with a solid propensity for collaboration and for building relationships while respecting the perspectives of others. Detail oriented and focused with the goal to accomplish project milestones and meet the timeline. Supervision of staff and experience chairing meetings with demonstrated positive outcomes is essential. Knowledge of Canadian (research) Neuroscience landscape is an asset.

Annual Salary: (MPEX Grade 08) $97,540.00 - $121,920.00 - $146,300.00
