Job Description


Senior Research Assistants are normally graduate students, or University of Winnipeg undergraduate students, employed to assist in the execution and evaluation of research projects in their area of study. The positions may oversee Research Assistants in areas such as the use of proper techniques, analysis, and documentation.Senior Research Assistants work under the general supervision or direction of more senior researchers or faculty members, and are expected to exercise judgment in prioritizing, planning and organizing their own work within defined parameters.Position Overview:The Research Assistant will be responsible for project organization. They may also assist with literature reviews, meetings, conducting research interviews and focus groups, gathering data, and data analysis.Duties:

  • Organize the various components of the project.
  • Prepare equipment and materials for research.
  • Perform academic research, standard tests and experiments.
  • Monitor and document research status and findings.
  • Assist with duties related to the production of articles, publications, reports and presentations.
  • RA will gather information for publications and presentations.
  • Prepare literature reviews.
  • RA will conduct literature reviews on housing and disability.
  • Assist in data collection, data entry, analysis and interpretation.
  • RA will read all the relevant data, and assist with analysis and interpretation.
  • Assist in the acquisition of research materials and supplies.
  • Perform data/word processing, routine computations, and record keeping.
  • RA will help organize the data.
  • Perform routine clerical and administrative duties to support research activities.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • RA may be asked to perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Have completed Introduction to Disability Studies or a related course.
  • Be a Disability Studies Major or Minor or be enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Have knowledge of disablement, housing, and/or intersectionality.
  • Qualitative research, interviewing, transcribing, Zotero (or EndNote), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), NVIVO (optional), and online videoconferencing platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
