Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, Asset Strategy the Senior Reliability Specialist is responsible for the development of innovative maintenance strategies and technologies across fixed assets at Teck\'s Coal Operations located in Sparwood, British Columbia. This role will suit those who are keen to apply their knowledge across a large multi-site organization and who have a strong background in reliability improvement and asset management.

To be successful, we are looking for a clear and confident communicator, who is able to maintain effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders and has demonstrated leadership skills and capability. They must have great discipline and time management abilities, be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work under minimal direction, and handle several priorities simultaneously. They should possess sophisticated analytical, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Most importantly, this position requires an individual who can communicate and engage maintenance leaders to inspire change.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure integration and improve value
  • Identify, understand, and quantify process risks that may impact performance to safety, cost, production, and quality
  • Deliver asset strategy projects with key success factors aligned to the project business case, including health and safety, environmental compliance, schedule, cost, and quality
  • Integrate activity planning on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to support cost management, reliability, and asset lifecycle performance
  • Work closely with OEM\'s to develop a reliability framework and ensure value generation through contract performance and commitments with the goal of increased asset reliability and reduced overall cost of asset ownership
  • Coordinate with other partners to incorporate new technologies in the asset health program
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
  • Ten years of proven experience in maintenance or operations including in a large industrial environment such as mining, oil and gas, or manufacturing
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 or equivalent driver\'s license
  • A detailed understanding of Condition Monitoring techniques, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Failure Modes, Effects Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis in beneficial
  • Experience with rotating equipment is an asset
  • Project Management Professional designation is an asset
