Sr. Regulatory Affairs Specialist (Contract 12-14 months)

Location: Canada (Mississauga ON, Etobicoke, ON or North York, ON)

SUMMARY:

As Sr. Regulatory Affairs Specialist, you will be responsible for leading regulatory activities for ACE and Artisan brands. This is a hybrid (office and remote) role with at least 60% attendance in office expected for the first 3 months of contract.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Generate Canadian and USA nutrition and ingredient labels for new and existing finished products using ProductVision; ensure adherence to government legislation and customer policies
  • Review and approve retail and food service labels and marketing materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Ensure all existing and new incoming raw materials are compliant with applicable regulations, brand and customer policies, product certifications and existing packaging-where applicable
  • Manage new and existing third-party product certifications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in the commercialization process to ensure current and innovation formulas are compliant and meet product-labelling requirements
  • Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, QA, Supply Chain, Packaging, and Manufacturing to coordinate and implement changes to affected specifications and / or labels in response to formula changes, new regulations or customer requests
  • Navigate and problem solve issues with the business while appropriately balancing the regulatory requirements and the business based objectives and escalating when required.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to cross functional teams in response to regulatory changes, formula updates, innovation or customer requests
  • Lead the planning and execution of regulatory-based changes that impact product portfolios based on jurisdiction specific requirements.
  • Organize and manage documentation according to established company procedures; ensure labelling information is electronically available to QA, sales, key account managers, marketing, R&D, and customers
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum Bachelors in Nutrition/Food Science or related scientific program. Masters/PhD will be a definite plus.
  • 3-5 years of product labelling experience in the field of Regulatory Affairs within Food and Beverages of Canadian and USA products
  • Established knowledge of Canadian and U.S. government labelling regulatory requirements specific to Health Canada, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, U.S. Food and Drug Administration
  • Previous experience or knowledge working with product certifications (Non-GMO Project Verified, Kosher, Vege Cert, Organic) considered an asset
  • Familiarity with ProductVision considered an asset
