This role is based in Calgary with up to 50% travel to our field operations in Surmont and Montney. This position will be responsible for collaborating with a wide cross section of execution and operations workgroups to provide direction and expertise on regulatory compliance; conduct field inspections; participate in emergency response activities; and engage with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and the British Columbia Energy Regulator (BCER). The successful candidate can affect outcomes on a range of regulatory topics, has a diversity of experience, and the ability to work as a highly qualified generalist and engaged team-member.Responsibilities:Maintain current understanding of regulatory requirements and frameworks related to in situ oil sands operations in northeastern Alberta and unconventional resource operations in northeastern BC; this includes a thorough understanding of AER Directives 060, 055 and 058; the BC Drilling and Production Regulation, the BC Oil and Gas Processing Facility Regulation, and the BC Flaring and Venting Reduction Guideline.Provide technical training and coaching to field staff through the execution of our Proactive Compliance Program to improve their knowledge and help drive work in a compliant mannerRespond to daily requests explaining regulatory requirements and procedures specific to the operations of the business to ensure compliance is in line with company standards and valuesProactively identify potential red flags or compliance concerns and recommend corrective or remedial actions to ensure operational compliance, including the escalation of unresolved/non-compliance issues to leadershipMonitor emerging regulatory change, analyze and effectively communicate business impacts, and develop and implement strategies to manage regulatory change to ensure continued complianceSupport and/or lead the response to external/internal audits, inspections, information requests, and non-compliancesConduct compliance assurance activities (i.e., manage compliance registers, conduct self-assessments, close-out corrective action plans, and report any deficiencies)Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on regulatory compliance to present to leadership (e.g., compliance statistics, audit and assurance results, out-standing corrective actions)Identify opportunities to improve or optimize our regulatory compliance and assurance framework, including leading in the development of new regulatory programs and tools to continue to evolve our culture of regulatory excellence and continuous improvementParticipate on ConocoPhillips\xe2\x80\x99 Emergency Management Support Team (exercises and events)Required Qualifications:Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree (e.g., engineering, science) or related post-secondary educationMinimum 10 years progressive experience in field operations, regulatory, and compliance with a focus on BCER and AER regulatory frameworksExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsDetail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsContinuous improvement mind-set, working to ensure our processes are more effective and efficientAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a strong team environmentDemonstrated personal integrity and self-discipline, and ability to build trust and confidenceMust be legally eligible to work in Canada.Preferred Qualifications:Training in ICS 100, 200, and 300Experience with various provincial systems including KERMIT, CM-IS, DDS, OneStop, and IRISTo be considered for this position you must complete the entire application process, which includes answering all prescreening questions and providing your eSignature on or before the requisition closing date.Current employees: Please ensure you have discussed your intent to apply with your current supervisor prior to applying for any internal position.For information on our Sustainable Development performance in Canada, visitConocoPhillips is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Apply Before: November 28, 2024Sponsorship: ConocoPhillips\xe2\x80\x99 sponsorship for employment authorization in the country where this job is located is NOT available for this position.EEO: ConocoPhillips is an equal opportunity employer.
