About You

You excel at creating innovative, accessible recreational programs tailored to individuals' goals and abilities.
You have a
Bachelor's degree
in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field from a recognized institution (Master's degree an asset).
You are registered with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) in good standing.
You have a
minimum 3+ years of professional experience
as a Recreation Therapist, preferably in developmental services or healthcare.
You can demonstrated expertise in therapeutic interventions, individualized planning, and outcome evaluation.
You have strong leadership and mentoring skills with proven program development experience.
You are knowledgeable about lifespan development, person-directed planning, and therapeutic interventions.
You have excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, and the ability to build trust.
You thrive in a collaborative team environment and can adapt to changing priorities.
You are proficient in Microsoft Office and documentation systems.
You hold a valid G-Class driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
You can provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
You will:
Leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of advanced recreation therapy programs across multiple service areas.
Develops and oversees evidence-based frameworks that align with CLNP's strategic and operational goals.
Implements specialized programs addressing complex needs (e.g., sensory integration, trauma-informed approaches, behavioural supports).
Provides consultation to staff teams and families on advanced therapeutic strategies.
Provides mentorship and clinical guidance to Recreation Therapists, Assistants, Specialists, and Direct Support Professionals.
Acts as a primary resource for problem-solving and adapting plans for individuals with complex needs.
Designs and delivers staff training workshops on therapeutic recreation, inclusion strategies, and adaptive programming.
Conducts advanced therapeutic assessments and develops individualized recreation plans.
Integrates recreation goals into Individualized Support Plans (ISPs).
Delivers targeted interventions to strengthen emotional regulation, skill development, and independence.
Monitors and evaluates outcomes using standardized therapeutic measures, reporting results to leadership.
Oversees program budgets, equipment, and material resources to ensure efficiency and accountability.
Provides recommendations for resource allocation and procurement of therapeutic tools and equipment.
Ensures safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of facilities, supplies, and materials.
Identifies, monitors, and mitigates risks in program design and delivery, ensuring participant safety and well-being.
Establishes and enforces compliance protocols in line with health and safety legislation, organizational policies, and sector standards.
Trains staff on risk management practices, prevention strategies, and emergency response procedures.
Leads program evaluation using evidence-based tools, tracking progress toward individual and organizational outcomes.
Prepares reports, identifies service trends, and recommends enhancements to improve effectiveness.
Supports grant applications, proposals, and special projects by contributing recreation therapy expertise and data.
Contributes to strategic and operational planning, ensuring therapeutic services align with organizational priorities.
Champions innovation by piloting new therapeutic models, technologies, and approaches.
Ensures compliance with MCCSS standards, accreditation requirements, and professional best practices.
Serves as an internal clinical subject matter expert in therapeutic recreation.
Compensation Details
Starting wage:
$33.01 per hour
(commensurate with experience).
Full-time hours with regular evening or weekend shifts as required.
