Job Description


Overview:As the Senior Project Manager you are responsible for the success of both division and corporate projects. As project champion, you provide guidance to, and directs all project activity through, the assigned project manager(s) and technical leaders.You will often lead long term projects (one year or longer in duration) and will often be responsible for services provided by third parties and a team(s) comprised of direct and indirect project staff, including consultants. Most often the large team is comprised of several streams of parallel activities involving various methodologies e.g. Business Architecture, Technical Architecture, and Organizational Change Management. Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full project life cycle from initiation to closeout, ensuring all the requisite key controls are in place to manage project constraints to baseline e.g. scope, schedule, budget and quality, resulting in delivery to timeline, budget, and quality.
  • Understand business objectives, strategies and the projectxe2x80x99s business case, explores the scope of business issues and prepares a project plan, including estimating required resources and timelines.
  • Create, execute and manage project plans, including scope, resources, schedules, budget, communication, risk and issue plans.
  • Identify and manage risks and issues that emerge throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project discussions and participate as an active member of the project team.
  • Manage, co-ordinate, and schedule project delivery streams, resources and activities to ensure tasks are executed according to the project plan and objectives.
  • Provide direction to operational management and a project team.
  • Manage the project schedule, milestones, deliverables, and action items for projects.
  • Organize and oversee release of key deliverables for acceptor/approver.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Business, Commerce, or related discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, designation or equivalent.
  • Supplementary courses related to Project Management i.e. Risk Management, Program Management and Agile Project Management, are an asset.
  • Eight to ten yearsxe2x80x99 related experience, including five years managing medium to large projects and special initiatives. This includes high visibility projects that involve large scope and budgets, multiple system changes and multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in an Agile environment an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate a diversified work group/project team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, parallel projects or multiple streams of work on a very large project.
  • Strong strategic and tactical planning skills, with the ability to align business and technology planning.
  • Strong project management skills, including Work Breakdown Structures, requirements management, deliverables, and budget allocations.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and requirements documentation.
