Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.Your roleAs a Senior Project Manager dedicated to the E250 program you will be overseeing our Agent who has procured a Prime Consultant for project implementation. You will be involved in procuring and working directly with the General Contractor and overseeing the Consultant through our Agent. You have experience leading workspace construction projects, are skilled in communicating effectively to different groups, working with stakeholders, vendors, and trades. You will be a member of the PMO, reporting to the Director.The opportunityThe E250 program is very large-scale initiative which covers an 8 to 9-year period with a focus on evolving the Toronto Broadcast Centre and transforming public and workspaces into effective and engaging places.This opportunity is a multi-phase project including Workplace Design implementation and Technical Design (studios, control rooms, edit suites, equipment rooms).This role, which involves significant client support, is based in Toronto, and is primarily onsite full-time, with the possibilities of hybrid work arrangements (to be discussed).Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Lead the Project - may include:

  • Ensure common understanding among stakeholders and provide appropriate information to project/program governance for decision making to ensure effective and efficient project delivery.
  • Communicate with, and support clients to enable support for the project and to solicit input to improve the project.
  • Promptly address issues and take necessary corrective actions.
Plan the Project - may include:
  • Planning of implementation phase including update/development of project definition documentation.
  • Governance, Organization, R&R, Benefits, Scope, Stakeholders, Communications, Approach, Risks, Budget, Financial Forecast, Schedule, etc.
Organize the Project - may include:
  • Ensure that project activities operate as per the policies and procedures of CBC/Radio-Canada and comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Ensure that project methodology is based on best practices.
  • Staffing and Team Management in consultation with project steering and resource managers.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the project team, instilling strong collaboration and effective communication.
Execute, Monitor & Control - may include:
  • Project monitoring, controlling, and reporting including scope, change, communications, financials, information, procurement, quality, schedule, risks & issues, quality, and resourcing.
  • Ensure that the project operates within the approved budget, schedule and quality criteria.
  • Ensure that all project records are readily available, accurate and current; develop status reports on the project for management and for stakeholders.
  • Identify and evaluate risks associated with project activities and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage call for tenders to select general or specialized contractors to deliver on scope of project, on time and on budget all in accordance with CBC/Radio-Canada procurement policies.
  • Supervise contractors and construction.
  • Coordinate work with the building manager, security and media technical teams as not to interfere with customer operations.
  • Keep minutes of all project meetings. Provide a weekly project status report. Provide a detailed monthly report with scope, budget and schedule metrics.
  • Maintain a record log to track additional requests and modification approvals during the course of the project.
  • Approve invoices and progress payments as work progresses in accordance with any applicable laws and/or regulations.
  • Approve delivery of project (substantial and final) and issue a project completion report.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in architecture, construction, engineering or equivalent experience and training
  • Seven (7) or more years of proven project management expertise, with at least two (2) years on complex / major projects
  • Experienced / familiar with traditional / waterfall, Agile, and hybrid project methodologies and best practices
  • Experience with traditional fixed price CCDC construction contracts, construction management and other forms of CCDC construction contracts
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills: positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization
  • Strong communication skills: speak, listen and write in a clear, comprehensive and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques that are appropriate for the audience, situation, and desired outcome
  • Ability to understand stakeholder needs, navigate seemingly-conflicting requirements, and manage expectations
  • Negotiation skills (internal and external) - a strong asset
  • Experience in delivering large Real Estate projects
  • PMP certification or equivalent
  • English is essential, French is a strong asset
