Location: Halifax

Working with the Business Group Leader for Impact Assessment and Permitting this position offers great variety of projects, and will see you involved in:

  • Leading the EA planning and permitting projects in Atlantic Canada in collaboration with the other regions in Canada
  • Managing the stakeholder and indigenous engagement process
  • Coordinating internal GHD environmental disciplines and external sub-consultants
  • Attending and presenting client meetings
  • Coordinating and attending public consultation events (e.g., open houses, information sessions, meetings)
  • Preparing and/or reviewing EA and environmental discipline specific documentation
  • Mentoring and managing junior staff
  • Leading EA planning and environmental inputs to proposals
  • Carrying out client development in the global markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation.

What you will bring to the team:
  • A post-secondary education in environmental planning, environmental policy, environmental science, or related discipline
  • 10+ years regulatory experience
  • Provincial and Federal Environmental Assessment legislation experience with a preference for Atlantic Canada experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with people (staff and clients) and a demeanor that reflects genuine interest in public concerns/interests and the ability to assess complex situations and projects.
  • Proven excellence at all stages of the project life-cycle, from preparing bids to feasibility studies, consenting, detailed design and data analysis, and stakeholder management
  • Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating and solving problems to brief and budget
  • Robust written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
  • An interest in coaching and mentoring to technically strengthen the team capabilities
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
