JOB SUMMARY





The

Senior Project Manager

is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of large, complex, and high-value projects while providing leadership and mentorship to the project management team. The Sr. Project Manager ensures that all projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.



This role requires maintaining and growing long-term client relationships, driving financial success across multiple projects, and championing continuous improvement in project delivery processes. The Sr. Project Manager also serves as a key advisor to the leadership team, providing insight and recommendations to enhance overall organizational performance.

DELIVERABLES & OBJECTIVES




Lead delivery of complex, high-value projects to meet or exceed financial and client satisfaction goals. Act as a trusted advisor to clients and executive leadership on project risks, opportunities, and strategy. Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical leadership to Project Managers and Coordinators. Drive continual improvement in project delivery, scheduling, and tracking systems across the organization.



RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES




Client Relationships & Stakeholder Management




Lead and maintain high-level client relationships, positioning JATEC as a trusted partner. Resolve escalated project challenges and ensure alignment of client expectations with company objectives. Represent JATEC in senior-level client and stakeholder meetings to secure repeat business and expand opportunities.

Financial & Project Oversight




Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring profitability and financial health of the portfolio. Approve and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and risk mitigation strategies. Drive accountability in project teams for cost management, schedule adherence, and quality outcomes. Lead negotiations on major changes, claims, and contract-related issues.

Safety, Quality & Compliance




Champion a culture of safety across all project teams and ensure compliance with OHS legislation. Provide oversight to ensure projects meet or exceed quality standards and technical specifications. Anticipate risks and implement proactive solutions to safeguard people, property, and the environment.

Leadership & Mentorship




Mentor and coach Project Managers and Coordinators to build technical and leadership capacity. Provide guidance on best practices in project planning, contract administration, and financial controls. Foster a collaborative environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Support succession planning by identifying and developing future leaders in the PM team.

Process & Strategic Improvement




Partner with leadership to enhance project management systems, reporting tools, and ERP integration. Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project and team success. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline planning, scheduling, and cost tracking. Provide strategic input to executive leadership on long-term operational planning and resource allocation.



QUALIFICATIONS




Required:




Minimum 8-10 years of progressive project management experience in construction or utilities. Proven track record leading large, complex, or high-value projects with successful outcomes. Strong financial acumen with experience in project forecasting, budgeting, and profitability analysis. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience with project teams. Advanced knowledge of project management tools and ERP systems (BlueBeam, Bid2Win, MS Project, SmartSheet, Viewpoint, SharePoint, Excel). Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. PMP certification or equivalent designation. Experience in electrical, civil, or underground utility construction operations. Prior involvement in organizational process improvement and strategic planning initiatives.
