About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a proven background in custom architectural millwork and woodworking. In this key role, you will be responsible for developing accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for high-end commercial millwork projects. You'll collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure bids align with project scope, company standards, and profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare complete and detailed project estimates including material takeoffs
Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and contract documents
Identify opportunities and align project selection with company goals
Manage final wrap-up and formal bid submission
Maintain and develop relationships with existing and potential clients
Source and manage trade partners and prime vendors
Collaborate with internal teams, including Purchasing and Production
Participate in client presentations, turnover meetings, and site visits
Monitor and analyze cost trends in labor, materials, and production
Maintain detailed records of all estimating activities and communications
Provide ongoing support to Project Managers during project lifecycle
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in high-end architectural millwork, preferably in commercial sectors
In-depth knowledge of materials such as wood, metal, acrylic, stone and glass
Familiarity with AWMAC standards and architectural drawings
Strong knowledge of industry subcontractors, suppliers, and production methods
Excellent communication skills--both written and verbal
High attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic
Preferred:
Post-secondary education in construction, architecture, architectural technology, engineering, or a related field
