Start Date: Immediately
Salary: $120,000 plus dependent on experience
Candidate Profile
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the evaluation, assessment, and restoration or retrofitting of existing commercial, industrial, and residential building structures, and designing and retrofitting building enclosure systems. The successful candidate is personable and comfortable collaborating with clients and colleagues, communicating with contractors, and working on active construction sites. The candidate should have thorough knowledge of building enclosure design across the climate zones in BC and for a range of building types. A commitment to providing first-rate client service while delivering practical and creative solutions is required. Successful traits for this role include inquisitive outlook, being a hard worker who readily and quickly assumes responsibility, and most of all being a team player who can work interdependently within a group environment.

Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage projects and clients from conceptual design to final completion
  • Site investigation and evaluation of existing building structures and building envelope systems
  • Formulate building envelope and structural rehabilitation programs and recommend the project concept to the client
  • Design and analysis of existing building components, building envelope systems, upgrades and improvements
  • Preparation of reports and studies
  • Preparation of retrofit rehabilitation drawings and specifications
  • Coordination with other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Contract administration/construction review while implementing building science and restoration work
Leadership Skills
  • Ability to create and lead a small group of professionals
  • Mentor and train junior staff
Business Acumen
  • Commitment to providing first-rate client service and technical excellence
  • Maintain and further develop our existing client base
  • Market and solicit work from new clients
  • Set project budgets and deliver projects within these budgets
Professional Qualifications & Experience
EDUCATION
  • Degree in civil engineering or material science from an accredited university
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with EGBC.
EXPERIENCE
  • 10 - 15 years of Building Science and Restoration experience
  • Experience in a consulting firm would be considered an asset
  • Supervision, mentoring and training of 2 to 3 engineers / technical staff / production.
