SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER - AVIONICS

JOB OVERVIEW

The qualified individual will be responsible for appropriate aspects of avionics modification projects (project management, design, certification, etc.) and supporting customers for the resolution of issues pertaining to design data interpretation and design deviations. The incumbent will be familiar with engineering and regulatory procedures and processes for the development and approval of avionics designs and will have experience mentoring junior engineers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design electrical and avionics system installations and modifications
  • Develop design documents for demonstrating compliance to the appropriate regulations
  • Liaise with equipment vendors for modification development and/or avionics troubleshooting
  • Liaise with Transport Canada for design approval
  • Develop test procedures which ensure proper operation of equipment and demonstrate compliance to the appropriate regulations
  • Participate in modification certification test programs
  • Review design documentation and substantiation reports produced by other avionics engineers
  • Review technical publications produced by the technical publications department
  • Aid in troubleshooting of aircraft electrical and avionics systems
  • Manage available resources to achieve assigned project goals
  • Mentor junior avionics engineers to help develop their skills and knowledge level
  • Supervise avionics engineers when avionics engineering supervisor is absent
  • Liaise with customers to ensure designs meet customer expectations
  • Develop engineering proposals and estimates to meet customer requirements
  • Stay current on systems, equipment and developing trends in the industry
REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Electrical or Avionics Engineering or have the equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Minimum five years of technical experience in Avionics Engineering
  • Previous leadership experience is an asset
  • Willing to work extra hours when required
  • Able to work independently in an office environment
  • Experience with MS Office necessary
  • AutoCAD experience considered an asset
  • Previous Transport Canada delegation would be considered an asset
  • Engineering project management experience is necessary
  • Experience in producing compliance analysis reports (including Systems Safety Analysis, High Intensity Radiated Fields & Lightening, Equipment Qualification Reports, Electrical Loads Analysis, etc.)
