We are responsible for managing major capital construction projects, snow and ice control services, along with road maintenance and repair services.If you are known for your creativity and innovative ways of thinking to lead change, develop strategies, and impact the industry, then we have the opportunity for you.About Our OpportunityUnder the direction of the Construction Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will lead a team of internal and external personnel in executing capital highway/ bridge construction and rehabilitation carried out by private contractors and government staff associated with major twinning and construction projects. The Senior Project Engineer will ensure all projects are completed within policies, specifications, federal/provincial regulations and budgets.Primary AccountabilitiesThe Senior Project Engineer must remain current in engineering best practices and engineering procedures. In addition, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for field data and record collection associated with the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender documents for Major Construction Projects ensuring both accuracy and consistency, and ensuring Departmental standards are met. The Senior Project Engineer will be the lead contact for stakeholders involved with construction projects and shall assist the Construction Manager and other members of the Major Projects and Construction team, as required.Qualifications and ExperienceA Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural or related) is required along with a minimum of six (6) years of related experience in highway maintenance and development. You must be (or meet the requirements to be) actively registered as a Full Member (P.Eng) with Engineers Nova Scotia (ENS).A valid driver\'s license is required.This position demands a highly organized and motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision. You must possess an understanding of the principles of the various strategies relating to highway/bridge construction and rehabilitation, including the ability to interpret specifications and diagnose engineering problems relating to all facets of highway and bridge design and construction.You must be able to supervise technical staff, manage multiple projects and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. You must also have a thorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and general knowledge of Government policies and procedures relating to the Departmental Health, Safety and Environment Program. Computer skills for word processing (Word) and analytical applications (Excel) are required.
