Program Supervisor

Reporting to the Childcare Director, the Senior Program Supervisor plays a key role in the daily operations of the centre. This position ensures our mission is brought to life in every classroom, every interaction, and every learning moment. Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, families, and staff.
Ensure compliance with Childcare Licensing, Environmental Public Health, and all related regulations.
Apply a thorough understanding of child development, including inclusive education practices for children from birth to age six.
Foster strong family and community engagement, creating meaningful opportunities for connection and participation.
Apply knowledge of the FLIGHT curriculum and be familiar with Reggio Emilia and Waldorf philosophies.
Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, staff, families, management, and community partners.
Lead, support, and mentor staff through conflict resolution, scheduling, expectation-setting, and implementation of programming.
Maintain diligent administrative records, manage documents, and utilize technology with confidence.
Collect monthly fees and prepare financial reports to ensure alignment with centre budgets.
Support classroom ratios by working directly with children when needed.
Conduct child observations, staff observations, and assist with performance evaluations.
Support hiring and onboarding of qualified staff in collaboration with the Childcare Director.
Demonstrate reliability, patience, flexibility, and professionalism in a dynamic early learning environment.
Coach and guide staff in planning and delivering high-quality, engaging programming.
Support fundraising efforts and community engagement initiatives for the centre.
Requirements
Prior classroom experience or working with children in educational or caregiving settings
Experience working with children with disabilities is highly desirable
Strong background in early childhood education or related fields
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively with staff, children, families, and community partners
Passion for supporting children's development and well-being
Certification or training in caregiving or special needs support is a plus
Must demonstrate patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive practices
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 2-year diploma in Early Childhood Education.
Leadership and management training considered an asset.
Experience supporting children with diverse needs is an asset.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a childcare setting required.
Strong understanding of the Childcare Act, Childcare Regulation, and Environmental Public Health Regulation.
Thorough knowledge of child development from birth to age six.
ECE Level 3 Certificate
(formerly Child Development Supervisor).
Current First Aid with CPR (Level B or C), or willingness to obtain.
Recent criminal record check with vulnerable sector search (within 6 months).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn specialized software. (Experience with Kindertales considered an asset.)
Ability to lift 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and interact at children's level.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Additional languages, including ASL, are an asset.
