The opportunity we offer you Our Innovation team is growing, and Senior Product Innovation Developer plays a key role in new product development and development activities. This position completes the innovation and new product development projects entrusted to him in order to market innovative products at competitive costs. The incumbent will work closely with his internal partners and act as a technical expert in Marketing, Operations, Engineering and Strategic Purchasing. The selected candidate assists the Innovation Director in the development of short and medium plans for the department\'s activities and plays an influential role with colleagues. Specifically, the Senior Product Innovation Developer is responsible for: Product Development
  • Ensures projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner and plays an influential role with colleagues to implement sound project development practices;
  • Helps shape the team by acting as a role model or inspiration for colleagues;
  • Develops new products to meet the company\'s financial goals, staying attuned to price changes of ingredients in their category in the marketplace;
  • Develops experimental protocols, develops new products; plans and organizes pilot and industrial plant trials; develops technical documentation;
  • Supervises the implementation of the products on an industrial scale;
  • Participates in multidisciplinary innovation, product development, new technology or new process project teams.
  • Executes innovation and product development projects in various production sites (internal and external co-packers);
  • Evaluates and adapts the development of products according to various manufacturing processes.
Product innovation that meets consumer needs
  • Contributes to turning innovation and product development priorities into products;
  • In collaboration with the team, plan and execute annually the market review and SWOT of products in its category ;
  • Create the review of relevant information including; the execution of research needed to advance scientific and technical knowledge supporting the company\'s strategic and financial objectives, develop new analytical methods;
  • Identifies and evaluates new technologies and processes that may enable key innovations, assesses their technical feasibility, and makes recommendations to management and to the various sectors in the category;
  • Conducts market intelligence based on the category\'s strategic alignments, in order to better understand competitors\' processes and validate new information available;
  • Assists the Director of Innovation in building a three (3) year plan on the evolution/innovation of the product portfolio in his category and thus influence customer growth plans.
What you will bring
  • University degree in Food Science and Technology or equivalent
  • 8-10 years of experience in food manufacturing or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in launching successful innovative projects.
  • Relevant experience in private-label product development management
  • Basic knowledge of food safety principles and standards (HACCP, SQF, etc.)
  • Mastery of Canadian and US frozen fruit and vegetable regulations an asset
  • Experience in quality control and quality assurance an asset
  • Experience in grant applications and research and innovation tax credits an asset
  • Excellent organizational and priority management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and respect for confidentiality
  • Customer service oriented with a good sense of initiative.
  • Must have excellent business acumen.
  • Ability to act as a transformational agent within the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French (written and spoken)
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
