We are seeking a
Senior Product Designer
to join our team in supporting the development of technically sound, production-ready lighting products. This is a
hands-on technical role
focused on translating creative direction into thoughtful solutions across production, fabrication, and installation.
Role Overview
As a Senior Designer, you will support the technical realization of the creative vision, acting as a critical link between design, engineering, and production. This position reports directly to the Principal Designers, who are responsible for all creative direction, design intent, and decision-making.
You will be responsible for translating and developing the initial Design/Concepts -
CAD modelling, technical documentation, vendor communication, cost analysis, and sourcing
, while keeping the Principal Designers informed of all developments and progress.

Key Responsibilities
Execute detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for standard and custom lighting Products.
Produce and maintain accurate documentation: BOMs, exploded views, assembly guides, and production specs.
Communicate clearly and effectively with vendors, producers, and fabricators.
Inform and update the Principal Designers on technical developments and production feedback.
Research and source new materials, components, and manufacturing partners.
Conduct cost analysis and suggest value-engineered alternatives.
Troubleshoot issues related to installation, heat management, and fabrication.
Maintain organized and tidy documentation and file systems.
Work independently while aligning with the Principal Designer's direction.
Meet production schedules and deadlines with a solutions-oriented mindset.
Reporting Structure
Reports to the Principal Designer(s).
Executes technical work and communicates with vendors and producers.
Responsible for keeping the Principal Designer informed on progress, challenges, and updates.
Requires initiative, independence, and a support-oriented mindset.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
2-4 years of experience in product development; preferably in lighting, furniture, or hardware.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar) and 2D drafting tools (AutoCAD, Illustrator).
Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, sheet metal, casting, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organization, and attention to detail.
Capable of working both with a team and independently; while effectively managing timelines.
Bonus Skills
Understanding of lighting components, wiring, and certification standards (UL, ETL, etc.).
Experience with decorative or architectural lighting and or furniture.
Familiarity with UL/ETL compliance and certification processes.
Visualization/rendering skills (KeyShot, V-Ray, etc.).
Experience supporting senior creatives in design-led environments.
Additional Languages are an asset.
