Reporting to the Director of OHS Practice and Engineering Support, this role communicates and coordinates on divisional responses to issues arising through various channels to ensure the interests of Prevention Services are effectively promoted and managed. This includes facilitating responses from media and government requests for information on Prevention activities, strategies, and operations by coordinating effective responses to queries from external stakeholders, including industry associations, unions, and members of the public, through working with Government and Media Relations.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

• Plan, develop and manage project strategies for complex issues, including facilitating internal task teams and managing external stakeholder input to ensure effective management and resolution of the issue.
• Communicates responses on behalf of Prevention Services to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and communicate corporate practice on prevention matters, provide advice issuing variances and acceptances under the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
• Provide key expertise on regulation and policy development, and lead the implementation of new regulation, policy or practice requirements including drafting and providing training to staff and management.
• Provide analysis, advice, and leadership and ensure effective implementation of WorkSafeBC strategies, policies, practices, and services.
• Design and manage complex research and analytical projects with respect to prevention issues, including legal and practice advice and development.
• Draft guidelines and other corporate practice and process proposals to support legislative, regulatory and policy requirements/amendments and Divisional and industry practice requirements.
• Prepare memoranda, Ministerial briefing notes, executive correspondence, decisions and other materials related to prevention matters.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory, policy and practice requirements regarding prevention matters.
• Make presentations to the Executive Leadership Team and other stakeholders.

Your background and experience:

• This position requires a degree in media relations or public policy or business administration, experience with the Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, would be an asset.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in government media or public relations, ideally in the public sector strategically managing government issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills are required
• Proven stakeholder and interpersonal relationships
