Senior People and Culture Specialist - Full Time
Location: Mississauga, ON, Canada
Must be able to travel within Canada and internationally
Reports to: Sr. People & Culture Manager Canada
Level: Mid-Level
Annual Salary Range (based on experience): CAN$60K+ Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree or an equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant human resources experience at a Specialist or an Advisor level with hourly workforce in a distribution, manufacturing or services environment is must.
  • Solid practical knowledge of employment standards is required.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts.
  • Union Experience preferred
  • Must have critical thinking and employee-customer service orientation.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytics skill and PC skills/MS Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Able to work independently on broad variety of projects.
Position Summary The Senior People and Culture Specialist will provide unrelenting customer service to all business functions within Canada and perform a full range of People and Culture functions including administration of People and Culture policies, procedures, programs, maximize the value of employee communication and employee recognition/appreciation along with ensuring a positive work environment. In addition, they\xe2\x80\x99ll build strong relationships with managers/supervisors to help them with their daily human resource needs. The candidate must be willing to travel to different locations within Canada and to the US and must be willing to take on additional responsibilities in areas outside of traditional People and Culture functions. Description of Duties and Responsibilities: Advisor
  • Responsible for supporting all human resource functions including providing support and guidance to the management and team members ensuring a positive work environment that emphasizes safety, quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Manage the tactical day-to-day Human Resources operations as well as providing oversight for initiatives such as scheduling/rosters, cross training, D&I initiatives such as forming and overseeing Employee Resource Groups to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Works with managers and employees to address employee relations issues of all types, ensuring that the interests of all parties are represented in a fair and balanced manner.
  • Hosts, communicates, and/or supports company initiatives in one-on-one and/or group training sessions as appropriate.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Tactical Operational Tasks
  • Manage recruitment and onboarding efforts including conducting new hire orientation, ensuring alignment with corporate processes and working closely with the Corporate HRIS and other COE People & Culture teams to make applicable updates to the process.
  • System/Administrative and governance responsibilities such as: payroll, auditing, training, job evaluation, job requisitions/bid process, COVID tracking & reporting, new hire onboarding, terminations, disability leaves, employee records, benefits, performance, etc.
  • Manage benefits and disability leave administration for all Canadian employees.
  • Collaborate with our agent of record on benefits and disability leave program.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update employee data (employee/job specific information including job changes, managing reports and dashboards and updating disciplinary records etc.) in the People and Culture information systems utilizing advanced computer skills including data entry.
  • Performs tasks required to administer and execute People and Culture programs including but not limited to position and compensation changes, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management, and recognition.
  • Lead the deployment of mid-year and annual performance management process with people leaders and employees and also partner with the Talent team on the deployment of the process.
  • Be an employee resource and answering questions regarding benefits, pension plan, policy interpretation and application, corporate programs and practices, etc.;
  • Explore training needs associated with the business and the new hire onboarding and ensure LMS is up to date by partnering with the corporate Talent Management team.
  • In addition to remaining current with all applicable country, federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established Company policies and procedures.
Special projects
  • Lead and implement Coop program in the Canadian organization.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and Canadian legislation by reviewing and updating employee handbook and other policies periodically.
  • Enhance People and Culture Canada SharePoint and Canada Employee Portal.
  • Overhaul onboarding program.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
