POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to join our dynamic team. This position will process and manage all payroll for over 400 union and non-union employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in unionized payroll, excellent interpersonal skills, with a high level of integrity, accountability and attention to detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and process weekly payroll for over 400 union and non-union employees across multiple companies.
Review, issue and ensure accuracy of approved advances, travel and overtime claims.
Maintain payroll employee records with a high level of accuracy and review changes for proper authorization.
Prepare and file weekly/monthly reports & reconciliations, including source deduction remittances, EHT, WSIB and union remittances.
Prepare and file annual reports & reconciliations, including T4s, WSIB, and EHT.
Administer employee benefits.
Post all associated accounting entries.
Issue Records of Employment (ROEs).
Assist HR and Accounts Payable, when needed.
Perform a variety of general accounting and support tasks, as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Post secondary education in related field preferred.
3+ years processing unionized payroll, preferably in the construction field.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Certified Payroll Manager certificate preferred.
Experience with Jonas Construction software is considered an asset.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word.
Equivalencies will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
Payroll systems/applications in a unionized environment
Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act
Understand, interpret and administer labour/union agreements
Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting concepts
Must demonstrate the following skills:

High level of integrity, confidentiality, dedication, and accountability
Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Exceptional work ethic, team player, flexible and adaptable
Strong planning, prioritization, and execution skills

Ability to foster and develop relationships with a diverse group of colleagues and clients

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 8am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, overtime as required
Compensation: $65,000 to $70,000 annually
Benefits: Extended Health Care benefits and Group Retirement Plan available after expiration of waiting period
