MBM Intellectual Property Law is seeking to add another

Patent Agent

to our team!


Our ideal candidate will be a Registered Canadian Patent Agent with the CPATA. They will have an advanced degree in

Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics and/or Physics.

Finally, they will be a team player with experience drafting and prosecuting foreign and domestic patent applications, preferably in the fields of telecommunications and artificial intelligence.

The Opportunity

Meeting with inventors to identify their invention's points of novelty Drafting foreign and domestic patent applications to articulate the above in writing Responding to both foreign and domestic Office Actions Monitoring deadlines/activities related to client IP portfolios Fostering and maintaining positive client and colleague relationships Assist with the mentorship, training and development of junior patent agents in training Other duties as required

What You Will Bring

A Class 1 license with the CPATA as a Registered Canadian Patent Agent (having passed USPTO Patent Bar would also be an asset) 8+ years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in both Canadian and foreign jurisdictions An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics and/or Physics (a J.D. or other applicable law degree is not required) An understanding of and experience with AI, cloud computing and telecommunications technologies The ability to meet and manage deadlines The ability to analyze complex problems and devise creative solutions Excellent communication skills, especially in writing Bilingualism in French and English would be an asset (but is not mandatory)
