THE POSITION
To provide epidemiological and real-world evidence to support business initiatives as required. This role will interact with all BICL business functions (more frequent interfacing with Epidemiologist, Health Economics, Market Access and Medical Affairs). Most of the interaction will be of the "inform" nature.


Responsibilities

  • Lead/co-lead the creation of Real-World Evidence (RWE) and/or phase IV studies that will support business objectives for Boehringer Ingelheim Canada\'s (BICL) various portfolio of products and corresponding therapeutic areas.
  • Develop high-quality Canadian (if possible) epidemiological data that can inform Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions and which can be used as a resource by other departments within Human Pharma.
  • Inform on options for parameters/outcomes for potential risk share type of agreements.
  • Provide guidance/coaching to the Outcomes Research Manager with respect to study design and relevant outcomes/endpoints, study inclusion/exclusion criteria, comparators, etc., of health system change projects. Accountable for collaborating with Access and cross-functional team members to provide various project support as required, for assigned BI projects.



Requirements
  • MSc or PhD in epidemiology or related health sciences area.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading epidemiological projects and real world evidence studies within the healthcare (pharmaceutical/medical technology) industry or research organization / consultancy.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and synthesizing results for insights.
  • Working knowledge of epidemiological methods and principles.
  • A strong understanding of relevant clinical and health outcomes is essential, as is the ability to work across several different therapeutic areas
  • Must be a positive minded, creative thinking person that can work well on cross functional teams
  • Computer literate and knowledge of Statistical software
  • Experience working with different Canadian registries would be an asset
  • Prior experience in designing and running prospective and retrospective epidemiological studies is required
  • A comprehensive understanding of clinical trial design and experience in protocol development would be an asset
  • Experience in working with health economists would be an asset
  • Experience in working in the pharmaceutical industry would be an asset.
