Position Overview:
As our Senior Operations Counsel you will provide legal services to the corporation, ensuring timely and accurate advice is delivered to corporate functions as needed. You will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, leading negotiations on strategically important and high-risk long-term agreements, while reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Legal (Canada).

Your Day to Day as our Senior Operations Counsel:

• Provide accurate, timely, and cost-effective legal advice to corporate functions to protect the organization from legal risk and liability.
• Lead or support contract negotiations, draft and review agreements, and provide guidance on contract interpretation to support business objectives.
• Manage disputes and litigation, including strategy, execution, settlement negotiations, and supervision of outside legal counsel and related costs.
• Oversee contractual risk management, including review and approval of deviations from corporate guidelines.
• Review promotional materials, advertising, and communications for legal compliance and potential risk.
• Provide internal training and guidance on relevant legal and commercial issues to employees.
• Administer and enforce corporate legal policies and procedures.
• Serve as a liaison with the BWXT corporate legal department and advise management on legal matters impacting the organization.

Required Qualifications:

• University degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) plus Bar Admission.
• 10 or more years of relevant legal experience (construction and/or manufacturing experience preferred).
• Nuclear experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills, business sense and interpersonal skills.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $89,000 and $139,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
