JOB SUMMARY


The Healthy Communities branch in Ottawa Public Health is responsible for developing policies and public health interventions that support individuals to achieve optimal health, as well as working with organizations and partners to create supportive social and physical environments, and build community capacity, in areas such as mental health and substance use, chronic disease and injury prevention, and vaccine preventable diseases. You are responsible for coordinating and supervising health promotion strategies, initiatives and activities for individuals, families and communities. You: assist and oversee the implementation and evaluation of programs which will inform consumers of healthy eating and active living practices; contribute to the overall effectiveness of the branch programs; administer the Healthy Living Section; and collaborate and liaise with internal and external partners and service providers in the community to identify community needs and development opportunities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Completion of Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a major in community nutrition or public health nutrition Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Public Health Nutritionist with increasing level of responsibility and supervisory experience.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES



Registered Dietitian (RD) with the College of Dietitians of Ontario

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Language Requirement: Designated Bilingual \xe2\x80\x93 specific level of language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates who do not meet language requirements will be required to participate in training.
