We are looking for a Senior Merchant to join our Merchant, Planning and Design team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Merchandising, the Senior Merchant will be the key lead for developing a product assortment strategy and effectively building a line plan for a multitude of product categories that supports the brands objectives and achieves the company's financial and product goals. The ideal candidate understands the components of building a successful business based on sales analysis, historical trends, and balancing current and future marketplace trends. Additionally, the Senior Merchant will balance knowledge of market trends alongside inventory management and product delivery to determine purchasing needs that will achieve sales targets and departmental KPIs.

What will you be doing?

Strategy:

  • You will be accountable for establishing seasonal assortment plans with a customer first mentality to achieve all product, sustainability and financial objectives and support an omni-channel business model.
  • You will develop and implement key merchandising reporting that allows the team to track and analyze sales, trends, and shifts in business on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. With this data, you will be responsible for making recommendations for strategic action.
  • You will lead the team on delivering monthly, quarterly, and seasonal hindsights to inform future seasonal assortment strategies and provide recommendations for assortment evolution.
  • You will be responsible and accountable for the preparation, scheduling, and execution of key merchandising GTM calendar checkpoints.
  • You will analyze and challenge processes, tools, and work methods to drive improvements that support a scaling business.
Partnership & Influence:
  • You will be the key partner to the Design Team on assortment architecture, line development, providing guidance on seasonal trends and sales analytics to support
  • You will partner with Commercialization to ensure product categories meet IMU and cost negotiation targets and calendar timelines
  • You will work closely with the Brand team to ensure the seasonal merchandising launch strategy, product stories, and campaigns are properly planned and executed on
  • You will present seasonal assortment and product initiatives to partners across the organization and present seasonal line reviews to support the Sales teams
  • You will partner with the Planning & Inventory team to review Open-To-Buy on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to establish future inventory buying needs
  • You will partner with the Commercialization team to ensure merchandising information is accurate and up-to-date in the PLM
  • To improve on future seasons, you will foster positive relationships with the channel leads to get feedback and insights to address product and consumer needs
People Management:
  • You will be responsible for hiring, training and developing Merchandising talent
  • You will be a key contributor in developing the departmental talent roadmap as the business scales
Requirements

Professional Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 years experience in apparel Merchandising and/or Buying showing progression across multiple organizations
  • Proficient with both Microsoft Office & Google Suites
  • Has worked with PLM systems in the past (Centric preferred)
  • Highly proficient in retail math
  • Fluent in English with excellent presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
