WSP's Property & Buildings M&E Team is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in the Thornhill office. This position is based in the GTA region particularly Thornhill or Downtown Toronto office. This role would be well suited for an experienced professional with a strong background in HVAC and plumbing systems design, experience in managing complex mechanical engineering projects and who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering innovative engineering solutions.

A day in the life:



The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for leading the engineering design of HVAC and plumbing systems for both new construction and retrofit projects This individual can expect to:


Lead the design and development of HVAC systems, heating and cooling plants and plumbing systems. Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications. Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members. Collaborate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and Offshore Design team. Ensure all engineering work meets quality standards and codes, while ensuring client expectations are met. Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications. Work closely with other disciplines to develop integrated solutions. Maintain and manage relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.

A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering consulting industry with focus on the design of HVAC, Plumbing & Fire protection Services for the buildings. A valid PEO license. LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience is an asset. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, and standards. Proficiency in relevant software to mechanical design, such as REVIT, IES, HAP. Demonstrated experience in leading the design of various mechanical system design approaches with at least 5 years of experience either on delivery of Data Centre projects in Canada or Science Facilities (Labs, Pharma etc). Proven ability to lead a mechanical design team across complex multidisciplinary projects. Demonstrated experience in managing projects, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members. An ability to work collaboratively with both teams based out of Canada and Offshore design teams. Desire to participate in client management and business development activities.
