Job Summary

Brunette Machinery Co. Inc. has been a leading supplier of wood processing machinery for the Sawmill, Pulp and Paper, and Biomass/Pellet manufacturing industries for over 80 years.

We are looking for a full-time Senior Mechanical Designer based in our Head Office in Surrey, BC. You will be a part of our Engineering and Production team for the designing, detailing, and layout of new and existing capital equipment, its manufacturing components. Previous experience in a machine shop environment will be an asset.

Salary Range: $95,000 to $125,000 CAD per year.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop complete mechanical designs, including 3D Models, GA and Layout Drawings, and Detail Drawings. Collaborate closely with the Engineering, Sales and Production teams on designs, sales and manufacturing drawings. Check drawings to ensure conformance to industry drafting standards and design compliance. Incorporate information from verbal discussions, sketches, photos, drawings, etc. into detailed manufacturing drawings, and sales quotation drawings. Create design drawings and problem-solving concepts by investigating and analyzing customers' specific issues. Generate BOM from drawings. Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO). Participate in Sales presentations with the sales team.
Qualifications:

Minimum (5) yrs. Of experience in machine design in a manufacturing environment. Minimum (3) yrs. Of experience with SolidWorks and 3D modeling. Strong computer skills with experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Proven experience developing and checking engineering drawings and documentation. P. Eng. or BCIT graduate.
Skills:

Competent in machine design, dimensional tolerancing, welding processes, and machining finishing. Proven ability to conceptualize in 3D Ability to manipulate and organize large multiple parts in SolidWorks. Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes, i.e. heat treating, forming, fabrication, machining, and assembly. Knowledge and experience working in the Forest industry is an asset. Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). Must be a collaborative team player.
