Our Engineering group are now looking for a Senior Materials Engineer to join their team here in St. John\'s, NL!

What will you be doing?

  • Applying advanced knowledge and experience to all aspects of the role
  • Providing technical guidance on materials and coating selection, corrosion, fabrication, painting, inspection and non-destructive testing, preparing project standards and specifications when required.
  • Liaising with other disciplines through work development, investigating, advising and making recommendations in relation to materials & metallurgy, including but not limited to the review of piping and structural related deliverables as well as component selection
  • Completing interdisciplinary document reviews of P&IDs, functional specifications, data sheets, isometrics and detailed drawings
  • Supporting the Supply Chain Team; including fabricator and manufacturer evaluation, evaluation of welding procedures and welding procedure qualification reviews, verification/review of fabrication records and test results provided by vendors and fabricators for acceptance
  • Ensuring the application of all related industry standards and government regulations pertaining to the design, fabrication, installation and inspection of pressure piping, pressure vessels and structural steel.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members within the Materials Discipline.
  • Supporting the Lead in the review and stamping of engineering deliverables in alignment with client specifications, industry standards/codes, and Aker\'s Authorization Matrix for Technical Documents
We think you should have:
  • A bachelor\'s degree in Metallurgy, Materials, or Corrosion Engineering and registration with PEGNL as a Professional Engineer
  • 10 years of experience in an engineering design role within greenfield and brownfield EPC scopes, ideally within offshore energy industry
  • Strong understanding and competency in the application of engineering and end user industry standards, specifications, and codes (ASTM, ISO, DNV, API, NORSOK,EN etc.)
  • Thorough experience in Engineering techniques, including but not limited to material degradation assessment, failure mechanism identification, fitness for service assessment and familiarity with non-intrusive inspection techniques
  • Knowledge of the degradation mechanisms affecting the offshore industry, including internal and external corrosion
  • Knowledge of materials including CS, high alloy steels, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys and non-metallic materials
  • Knowledge of process units in the offshore industry, mechanical, piping and structural items, their construction, manufacturing and basic operation.
  • Ability to complete all mandatory safety training and meet qualifications required for work at various sites, including offshore sites
