About the Position
The Senior Marketing Specialist is a critical thinker capable of developing marketing strategies that serve identified institutional goals and objectives. They are a leader within Marketing/ Advancement and proactively work to provide leadership in best practices and brand standards. Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Web Services, this position is responsible for leading the strategic direction of key stakeholder projects, the delegation of appropriate resources within account services to ensure success, as well as the mentoring of staff and new hires as required.
This position serves as the Marketing department\'s team lead and liaison in matters of strategic development with internal clients and external creative partners. A background in project management (certificate or higher) is required to ensure the appropriate allocation of time and resources to satisfy project requirements and schedules. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential attributes as this position is responsible for initiating, planning and executing complex and multifaceted marketing projects, budgets and resources on behalf of college stakeholders.
There is some flexibility for this position, but there will be a requirement to be on campus most of the time.
Position Details
Strategic Planning. Under the supervision of the Manager, Marketing and Web Services, this position contributes to the development of an annual plan that supports the college\'s strategic plan and relevant priorities identified in Lethbridge College\'s Comprehensive Institutional Plan. The scope of this activity serves corporate and academic clients and as such requires the individual to correspond with multiple client areas, often seamlessly, to develop comprehensive plans. These efforts contribute to furthering the college\'s reputation and relevance to government, industry, community and internal stakeholders.
Liason to Key Stakeholder Clients. This position works in fluid continuity with key stakeholders groups including ELT, Deans and Chairs to plan and implement strategic marketing initiatives. Typically this includes build-outs of strategic and marketing plans, creative briefs identifying tactics and preparing supportive media buys to support client goals. This position advises on key marketing and communications needs to help departments plan annual projects and new initiatives. Often includes developing budgets and timelines for internal departments as well as making decisions on where best to allocate resources and spending. Maintains regular and open communication with clients. Builds positive rapport and maintains effective relationships with clients. Adds value by providing insights and recommendations, as well as ensuring project planning is on time and on budget.
Advertising and Promotions Planning and Implementation. Once strategies are agreed upon with the clients, this position is responsible for working with the Marketing and Communications teams to create content to meet the objectives of the strategy to support the client and overall brand position of Lethbridge College. Content is developed with consistent messaging and imagery that supports the college\'s brand. This includes research, copy writing, editing and brainstorming. This position works closely with communications, writers, photographers, web services, the production coordinator, and designers on a daily basis in a collaborative fashion to execute the project. Some key projects led by this role are: capital campaign materials, recruitment materials and college-wide event materials.
Marketing Plan for Event and Management. The role will include the planning and execution of marketing events to support college wide initiatives. This includes the logistical planning and execution of marketing specific events. They will often be required to participate on planning committees for college wide events such as: donor recognition events, building openings, anniversary events, recruitment events and more. The Senior Marketing Specialist will act as the marketing expert and will advice, plan and execute all marketing initiatives to support college events.
Photo and Video Production. The Senior Marketing Specialist will be involved in the contracting of services to external vendors to support the production of photos and videos. They will plan, organize and supervise photo and video shoots with college staff, faculty, students, donors and community members. This involves providing the creative direction for each shoot, maintaining budgets and timelines, and directing of the content gathering as well as editing of the final product.
They decide on creative concepts and lead the planning and execution of photo or video shoots while developing positive productive relationships with vendors.
Brand Positioning.This specialist will work as a self-starter and actively look for opportunities to bring new and innovative ideas to the table while moving the college brand forward. They work to maintain, update and innovate the brand and marketing procedures. Has a strong understanding of industry standards and works to advance the marketing team.
