Canadian Adventure Charters Inc. (CAC) is seeking a highly distinguished
Senior Marine Archaeologist
to join our elite and rapidly expanding organization. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this role is central to advancing CAC's mission, expedition strategy, and scientific and media-driven initiatives.
The Senior Marine Archaeologist and Maritime Historian will lead comprehensive research into shipwrecks and maritime heritage, deliver authoritative reports, and provide expert guidance to CAC leadership, investors, our documentary production team, and regulatory agencies. This position ensures all historical research, data management, and expedition insights align with CAC's mission, operational standards, and the creative direction of our flagship feature documentary: Deep Blue Rising - A New Alliance for Earth's Last Frontiers.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth historical research and produce authoritative reports on shipwrecks, including assessments relevant to government programs and CAC strategic initiatives.
Identify, evaluate, and document historic shipwreck sites--particularly throughout Canadian and polar waters, including Newfoundland & Labrador, the Northwest Passage, the North Atlantic, Baffin Island, Arctic regions, the Mid-Atlantic, and Antarctica.
Develop and maintain high-level relationships with maritime museums, global research partners, regulators, academic institutions, and financial stakeholders.
Work closely with CAC specialists to catalogue and manage collections of maritime artwork, cultural artifacts, recovered treasures, and high-value shipwreck cargo portfolios.
Provide expert insight into major historical maritime themes, including naval warfare, maritime trade, pirate history, and the great voyages of exploration.
Maintain deep expertise on early European exploration of North America, including the voyages of John Cabot and Norse expeditions.
Collaborate directly with CAC's documentary film crews throughout the five-year production of Deep Blue Rising*. Contribute to educational and cinematic productions with major global streaming partners and media organizations.
Uphold CAC corporate policies, confidentiality expectations, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Support expedition planning, route mapping, and mission analysis to enhance operational and scientific outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Ph.D. in Marine Archaeology, Shipwreck Discovery & Recovery, or a closely related field.
15+ years
of international experience with leading maritime museums or research institutions across Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Antarctic regions.
10+ years
of senior leadership experience related to maritime exploration, research vessel operations, deep-sea submersible programs, economic development, or treasure recovery missions.
Proven expertise in artifact identification, shipwreck cargo evaluation, conservation, and maritime cultural heritage management.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with venture capital groups, global family offices, and Fortune 500 partners.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex historical research into compelling narratives.
Strong project management capabilities, with a record of delivering high-profile work under stringent timelines.
Preferred Skills & Expertise
Direct field experience in deep-sea exploration, submersible operations, offshore polar expeditions, ocean research, or adventure tourism.
Understanding of climate change impacts on underwater archaeological resources.
Expertise in designing and executing archaeological missions, including Phase I, II, and III underwater excavation programs.
Advanced knowledge of historical navigation routes, storm-driven wreck patterns, and naval warfare history.
Award-winning or demonstrated storytelling ability suitable for film, documentary, and educational media.
